Correlations between variables is an important source for understanding a problem and a way to find possible solutions. When we measure variables, we are usually interested in studying the relationship between them. The correlation coefficient quantifies the relationship between two variables; and with the size of the correlation coefficient the strength of the relationship between two variables is reported. Seems like a simple concept, but a basic knowledge is required to understand correlations. This project that was inspired by the video: "Dancing statistics: explaining the statistical concept of correlation through dance", and aims to explore the concepts of correlation and correlation coefficient in a ludic way through dance. In this way, it will be possible to observe through dance movements the concepts of correlation, in this way, the synchronous movements are representing a positive correlation, a correlation coefficient (r) that has a positive value up to a maximum of 1. When changes in one variable correspond to similar changes in another variable, we have a positive correlation. The video prepared depicts movements that are in opposite directions, thus you have that the correlation between these variables is negative, that is, this is represented by a correlation coefficient(r) that has a negative value to a minimum of -1. To observe that a variable has no relation to the changes is illustrated a difference between the dancers, that is, they may be dancing randomly, not showing any kind of correlation, that means, representing a zero correlation. It is hoped that the video produced will help in the understanding of statistical concepts and foster the interest of students in the area of Data Science.
